This article does a very good job of comparing Eve from the bible story Adam and Eve and Pandora from Pandora's box. The story of Adam and Eve says that long ago Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden and everything was absolutely perfect, and it would remain that way as long as they did not eat the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge as God instructed them to do. A serpent ends up tricking Eve into eating an apple from the tree of knowledge, and as a result the world is forever plagued with sadness, despair and all the horrible things that Pandora also unleashed on the world. There are many similarities in the the two women from these stories, such as that they are both supposed to be the first woman created and they were created to accompany man. However, obviously the main focus in similarity is the fact that they give in to temptation and as a result the world is imperfect. They both gave into temptation that resulted in unleashing despair, sadness, death, disease, poverty, etc. on the world (Coleman).
