Pan's Labyrinth is a movie about a little girl named Ophelia. Only one part of this movie truly relates to the myth of pandora's box, but I think it is a strong connection. This movie is about a little girl named Ophelia who is greeted by a mythical creature in a labyrinth and he gives her three tasks she must complete. He tells her she is the princess of the underworld and that if she completes these tasks she will be able to claim her throne. The part of the story that relates to Pandora's box is during the second task when she goes to retrieve a golden dagger. There is a terrible monster down there, but the Faun tells Ophelia she will be okay as long as she does not eat the fruit. When Ophelia is doing the task, however, she eats some of the fruit from the monster's table causing the monster to wake up and chase her. She escapes, but this is very closely related to Pandora's box. Just like Pandora, Ophelia was tempted with something she was explicitly told by a supernatural figure not to eat (or open, in Pandora's case) and she did it anyways (Pan's Labyrinth Synopsis). Ophelia didn't release plague upon the human race, but she did get the fairies that were with her killed and awake a horrible monster that had been asleep for many years because of temptation.
