This song is not about the releasing of all the horrible plagues on mankind, but it is more about the horrible plagues on mankind. The song never talks about where these things come from or why they came to be, which is really what the Pandora's Box myth is about. Instead it just discusses (vaguely, as most songs do) the issues that are created by all the plagues put on mankind such as misery, disease, greed, etc. One part of the song says "And like some pirate sailor; We crossed the Spanish Main; And brought our magic carpet; To a marble staircased plain" (Procol Harum). To me this part directly speaks about how Europeans came over to America and destroyed all the lives that were already here. This would be something that was caused by Pandora opening the box, as are all the other things that are discussed in the song.
